What is it?
The Graduate Development Programme (GDP) provides a structure for
you, in co-operation with a nominated senior member of staff who
acts as your Reviewer, to develop your personal skills and professional
capabilities.
Working through the GDP involves setting yourself targets. Targets
can be achieved by a combination of formal training and on-the-job
experience. You'll be given the opportunity to develop
a broad range of experience.
How will I develop?
The programme allows for the development of:
- a good understanding of the nature of MVA Consultancy's business, as a whole,
including both the range of technical services it provides, and how
it functions as a commercial entity;
- in-depth technical knowledge and skills, especially
with regard to the practical application of these skills for clients;
- personal skills to enhance personal productivity and
effective relationships with others; and
- a "consultant's view of life",
in which you'll learn to understand the client's point of view and respond
accordingly as
a consultant.
Is it compatible with other external training
schemes?
MVA Consultancy's GDP credits are compatible with National Vocational Qualifications
(NVQs).
In addition, for those interested and eligible to become a Chartered
Civil Engineer, the GDP is recognised by the Institution of
Civil Engineers as an Approved Training Scheme. We also support graduates
aiming to become chartered through the Institution of Highways and
Transportation or the Institute of Logistics and Transport.
How long will it take to complete?
The programme typically lasts for a period of 2 to 3 years.
Is there a reward at the end of the programme?
Yes, to acknowledge your achievement in successfully completing the GDP, a cash award is paid to you.
Further information?
Under the 'What
our graduates say about us' area of the website
you will find some information relating to the GDP from the perspective
of some of our graduates.
Should you be invited to attend an Assessment Centre, further information
regarding the GDP and a copy of the manual will be available on the
day.
