Operated as a national performance unit serving operators of train and bus
services (e.g. First Group plc; National Express plc; Arriva plc; Go Ahead
plc; Stagecoach plc), infrastructure providers (e.g. Network Rail), Passenger
Transport Executives, and the Department for Transport, Transport Scotland
and Transport Wales. Seek to be a "trusted advisor" supporting
profit improvement, franchise bids, new business development, implementation
programmes (e.g. electronic ticketing and smart cards), organisational effectiveness,
business appraisal and funding cocktails for investment projects. Prior experience:
ex Bus operator or Train Operating Company, Consultancy, or Passenger or
freight transport experience desirable
Business Analyst - Birmingham, Edinburgh, London or Manchester
Seeking someone who is interested in making change happen through a mixture
of analytical advice and practical translation into how to deliver it. Preference
for a graduate with degree in Transport, Economics, Geography, Accounting,
Business Studies, Mathematics, Physics - but personal characteristics matter
most (Divisional Director's degree is in African History.)

Principal Consultant - Payment Means & Ticketing

Our value-add for the public authorities it is to increase the effectiveness
and economics of their programs in payment systems, including the use of smart
card and similar technology for concessionary ticketing and building a platform
for commercial and other non-transport applications. For the private sector
operators it is to enable them to increase their growth rate and increase their
profitability by developing products and the customer proposition appropriate
to this environment and maximising cost-effectiveness and revenue generation.
Graduate with thorough understanding of Information Technology as it relates
to smart cards and fares and ticketing, including the ITSO specification -
but personal characteristics matter most.

Principal Consultant - Rail Operations
- Birmingham, Edinburgh, London or Manchester
Our team supports timetable development at both strategic and detailed level
with supporting diagramming; train crew management and diagramming; cost to
operate a given timetable; evaluating the performance impact of changes to
rolling stock, infrastructure, and the train plan - including simulation; optimising
rolling stock allocation and crowding levels in line with demand data and franchise
obligations. Minimum education is A2 attainment or equivalent with GCSE in
English and Maths or equivalent: degree preferable. Essential is experience
of one or more of: local operational management; train crew management; performance
management; timetable and resource planning. Must be methodical and exacting:
precise; high attention to detail.
