Piercetown Mobility Management Plan
MVA was appointed in September 2007 to prepare a Mobility
Management Plan for the proposed new development of a business park
located near Dunboyne in County Meath. The proposed development consisted
of 120,000sqm gross floor area with an expected 3,500 people employed
at the site.
A mobility management plan was developed for the site to promote
sustainable modes of transport and reduce car based transport. MVA
developed a gravity model for the development based on population
and travel time to show the likely trip distribution of future employees.
The existing and future transportation environment of the site was
reviewed to identify opportunities for non car based travel. Based
on this mitigating measures were identified which included amongst
others the appointment of a mobility management team prior to the
development to champion a number of transportation initiatives, the
development of a site travel options brochure which would form part
of an employee starting pack, identification of new bus stop locations
and the provision of a shuttle bus service from the site to a proposed
new railway station and the Dunboyne town. Challenging and achievable
mode split targets were identified for each mode of transport following
the review of the existing and future transport environment and the
identification of mobility management measures. These targets will
be reviewed regularly once the development is operational as part
of an ongoing monitoring process.
River House Mobility Management Plan
Between May and June 2008 MVA prepared a mobility management
plan in response to a developer requirement issued from Dublin City
Council. The work included a review of potential car queuing at the
entrance to the proposed development. In addition to providing a
travel plan to open up walk, cycling and public transport options,
a car lift was also proposed to deliver cars to the basement of the
building. The mobility management plan was to serve the travel requirements
of the proposed office block development with a potential over 1,000
employees.
