Airline
services are subject to events which delay flights and disrupt the
planned schedule. While these are outside the scope of airline
management action, there are consequences for subsequent flights.
MVA have developed a simulation model to help evaluate the trade
off between the cost of investing in additional resource to improve
on-time performance and the passenger perception of the service standard
(the airline's competitiveness).
MVA has reviewed the economic value of regional
UK air services. The
study included an assessment of passenger choice between surface
and air travel and the benefits that accrue from the provision of
air services.
