Demand Forecasting and
Modelling

Modelling
is a major element of our work, particularly in the Middle East region. Our
demand forecasting and modelling services include:
- Development of
bespoke models;
- Use of strategic multi-modal models; and
- Micro-simulation.
The Issues
Transport policy must address not just today’s
issues but those of the future. For transport infrastructure,
future generations will experience the effects of today’s decisions. To
ensure decisions will meet the future needs in a cost-effective,
robust manner demand forecasting is an essential consideration.
Our
Capability
We
were originally responsible for developing strategic multi-modal
transportation models for Dubai and Bahrain. Our world-wide
experience is unparalleled in constructing, testing, and validating
large scale models. We
hold an in depth knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of all
software.
Given the widespread level of development over recent
years and increasing pressures exhibited on the transport network,
we have acquired extensive experience supplementing and interfacing
strategic models with micro simulation software to substantiate our
recommendations for mitigation in Traffic Impact Studies. Consequently
we have cultivated our knowledge and understanding of the techniques
available, such as 3D representations of local transport networks,
and ultimately, developing models which will ensure the proposals
are ‘fit for purpose’ before
costly implementation.
We
ensure the models we use are robust, up-to-date and continue to provide
the most accurate platform on which to assess future transportation
issues. We have enviable experience developing and utilising transport
models to inform:
- Strategic/policy studies at a national,
regional and local level;
- Detailed demand studies;
- Appraisal of highway
schemes;
- Appraisal of public transport schemes – Bus,
Rail, LRT etc;
- Road user charging and toll road studies;
and
- Detailed appraisal of traffic management
measures, including mitigation measures for Traffic Impact Studies.
