MVA have been retained by Strathclyde Partnership for
Transport (SPT) to carry out the initial phases of the Glasgow Conurbation
Public Transport Study.
The Study aims to provide a blueprint for optimising
public transport provision across Glasgow and adjacent urban areas.
MVA will undertake a critique of the effectiveness of current public
transport provision, and analyse the potential impact of planned
land-use developments to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities
and threats across the conurbation. Together with SPT they will
develop an objective-based approach to determining the optimum transport
mode for each key corridor, in accordance with the established Scottish
Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG).
The project is led by MVA's Glasgow-based transport
planning team, and involves strong partnership working with SPT
to maintain a tight timescale, with completion of the initial phases
anticipated in Autumn 2006.
