MVA Consultancy Helps Metro (WYPTE) Win A National Transport Award (2006) for Technology.

Metro (West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive) has won a prestigious national award for technology innovation that uses a system developed by MVA Consultancy and ARS Traffic & Transport Technology. The announcement of Metro's success was made at the National Transport Awards, run by the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen's Centre for Transport Policy, on July 18. Metro received this award for the Streamlined Production of Road Side Displays and Interchange Passenger Information.

Roadside Displays at bus stops are an information source that is highly valued by Metro's customers. A typical set of service changes involves 2,000 new displays, and required around 150 person days to produce. The time available between registration and service change was making it virtually impossible for Metro to ensure that this quantity of displays was made available in a timely manner. MVA Consultancy led the development of a highly efficient batch process that automatically creates the new Roadside Display at the rate of 100 per hour thereby allowing the information to be at bus stops in advance of the services change. The improvements also make it feasible for Metro to consider expanding the Roadside Displays to all 14,500 bus stops in West Yorkshire.

The Road Side Displays are an integral part of Metro's advanced integrated public transport services system which has been developed by MVA Consultancy and partner ARS Traffic & Transport Technology.
