Travel to Education Surveys in Dublin

MVA Consultancy has been appointed by the Dublin Transportation Office to undertake comprehensive Travel to Education Surveys across all education sectors in Greater Dublin. The surveys will generate essential data inputs to the DTOs transportation model. This model underpins and informs the DTOs transport planning and development role.

Every primary and secondary school and college in the Greater Dublin area (Dublin, Meath Kildare and Wicklow) is being invited to participate in these surveys during October and November. Individuals will provide information about their mode of travel to education, distance, time taken and other related information. The surveys will also measure attitudes to walking and cycling.

This project is funded by the Irish Government under Transport 21, which includes a major investment in transport infrastructure in the Greater Dublin Area over the next 10 years. The essential travel to school data collected from this survey will be used by the DTO to update its Transportation Model and to assist the office in planning and targeting the Transport 21 investment programme. This programme aims to encourage more young people to walk, cycle or use public transport to travel to education.
MVA Consultancy is working with Amàrach/Field Research Ireland on the fieldwork elements of this project.
