Improving Access to Public Services

MVA Consultancy has recently developed Accession models for a number of local authorities in Scotland.

Argyll and Bute, East Renfrewshire, North, East and South Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway Councils have all adopted the analysis and planning software to assist them in developing their local transport strategies.

Accession was developed by MVA under contract to the Department for Transport and is now managed by Citilabs. MVA continue to offer consultancy services in model development and application.

The models developed by MVA have been used to assess accessibility to key public services and, in particular, assess the extent of social exclusion by allowing users to evaluate the accessibility of current services and plans on different sections of the population.

The system is quick and easy to run and is being used by local authorities, patient care trusts, education authorities and central government departments to improve public transport links to key services in socially excluded areas.

MVA has developed a wealth of experience and expertise in accessibility planning, delivering a growing portfolio of projects on behalf of public sector organisations throughout the UK.
