MVA Consultancy round-up 26/10/07

This is a summary of new work awarded to MVA Consultancy, which provides advice on transport and other policy areas, to central, regional and local government, agencies, developers, operators and financiers worldwide.

MVA, through client business planning, customer research and strategy development create solutions that work for real people in the real world.

MVA will carry out analysis of travel demand databases and surveys which have been used to assess transport provision and capacity to meet demand arising from property developments and the growth in population in London.


The Tayside and Central Scotland Transport Partnership (TACTRAN) has commissioned MVA to  purchase a number of Accession software licences; to provide training to members of the Local Authorities and Health Board officials who make up TACTRAN; to update the TACTRAN model and to install both the model and the software.


MVA is to carry out a study for Bournemouth and West Hampshire Water to understand their customers' views on current water services and proposed improvements and improvements they would be willing to pay for. The work will have two strands: face-to-face interviews with a sample of domestic customers and an online survey of business customers.

The UK Department for Transport has commissioned MVA to undertake research to understand the value passengers place on reducing over-crowding on the rail network. MVA will also study passengers' behavioural responses to crowding on the railways, and evaluate their willingness to pay to reduce over-crowding.

Consumer Council for Water
 

A total of 10 focus groups will be conducted to test a series of messages identified by the water industry, to evaluate their impact on consumers, and to identify any further message which resonates with participants.

Green travel plans
Southampton City Prime Care Trust
 

MVA Consultancy is to produce a travel plan on behalf of the Southampton City Primary Care Trust (SCPCT) to cover both the RSH and Western Hospital sites in Southampton.


Evaluation of sustainable modes of travel strategy

MVA is to look at and select 24 Sustainable Modes of Travel Strategies produced by Local Authorities under the Education and Inspections Act 2006. The 24 will be subject to multi-criteria analysis and evaluation. The study will conclude with a report identifying the quality of strategies reviewed, good practice and recommendations for improved guidance to local authorities.
