MVA Consultancy Aids Welsh Assembly's Social Inclusion Agenda

<< Go Back

Dr John Sutton of MVA Consultancy gave a presentation on the company’s Accession software to the Welsh Assembly GI Forum on April 23.

MVA has developed Accession analysis and planning software to allow local authorities, patient care trusts, education authorities and central government departments to prepare Local and Regional Transport Plans and assess the extent of social exclusion.

The innovative system has been adopted by The Transport Planning Unit of the Assembly to evaluate the impacts of current services and plans on different sections of the population.

The government department invited MVA to the forum in Cardiff to discuss how Accession can aid social inclusion by supporting the development of regional transport policies.

Dr John Sutton used the event before staff of the devolved government and local authorities to demonstrate MVA’s experience and expertise in accessibility planning.

The Director for Transport Information Systems also discussed how similar projects in England identified areas of potential growth and business development.

Speaking after the conference, he said: “It’s becoming increasingly important to provide good access to a range of services and the ability to measure accessibility is now a vital component of transport planning.

“A number of local authorities in Wales are now engaging with our Accession software as they recognise that improving accessibility is a fundamental element of any social inclusion agenda.”
