MVA Consultancy to deliver integrated management system for Nottinghamshire transport services

MVA Consultancy has been appointed to deliver a data management system for Nottinghamshire Transport Services (NTS).

NTS has been formed through the merger of existing transport units from the Communities and Adult Social Care and Health Departments of Nottinghamshire County Council.

The agency provides transport services and solutions to the people of Nottinghamshire, including local bus, young peoples home to school transport, special education needs transport, travel information, concessionary fares, adult and social care transport as well as an ITSO compliant smartcard electronic ticketing system.

NTS has identified the need to develop a fully-integrated IT system which will allow it to better manage bus service registrations, bus routes, bus stops, timetables, fares and publicity as well as young peoples travel awards and school transport services.

MVA will now deliver the core database and geographical information systems as well as further modules to manage the young peoples travel awards and education transport services as well as the ITSO smartcard and data management system for concessionary travel.  The MVA team includes ARS Transport and Technology and Applied Card Technologies.

MVA will use its PT Insight system to deliver these services and will interface with existing databases and other systems as part of the integrated IT solution.

When fully implemented, the users will have access to comprehensive information through a user friendly interface with tools for data analysis and reporting.

NTS managers will also be able to review and monitor the performance of the services as a single enterprise.

Dr John Sutton, MVA director for transport information systems, said: “Nottinghamshire County Council has embarked on an ambitious programme to integrate several disparate services in an enterprise solution involving a number of different databases and applications.

“The PT Insight database and GIS is an ideal platform to provide the kernel for the system and we are delighted that the council has chosen our solution.”
