Leading transport planning specialist MVA Consultancy has appointed Conrad Haigh as Director of Smarter Travel.

Conrad HaighWith an enviable track record spanning more than a decade, Conrad has built up an extensive portfolio of experience across the transport planning sector including the recent delivery of a £5.5million Workplace Travel Planning (WTP) Programme with Transport for London(TfL) across 33 boroughs.

Having played key roles in projects including the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Transport Energy Best Practise (TEBP) programme and English Regions Cycling Development Team (ERCDT) specialising in creating behavioural change in transport use, Conrad brings to MVA a wealth of experience which will enhance the company’s 500-strong pool of expertise.

His specialist knowledge within the public sector, devising strategies to increase public participation and involvement and working with businesses and stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial goals will be a valuable addition to the multi-disciplinary practice which will help to keep MVA at the forefront of the transport planning industry.

He said: “MVA wishes to grow its existing Smarter Travel and Behavioural change skills base. We see Smarter Travel playing a key role in maximising the use of the existing transport network and helping schools, businesses and individuals travel more efficiently and in a more sustainable way.

Conrad joins MVA from Transport for London where he was Workplace Travel Planning Manager. TfL’s Workplace Travel Planning Programme signed up more than 1,400 organisations to workplace travel planning, covering an employee base of more than 10% of London’s workforce. The programme successfully created a 13% modal shift away from car journeys in the organisations it was working with, creating more efficient, cheaper and sustainable travel for businesses and individuals.
