MVA Consultancy has been reappointed to manage the
West London Freight Quality Partnership (WLFQP) on behalf of the
six West London Boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow,
Hillingdon and. Hounslow. The industry leading transport planning
consultancy will manage and provide freight advice and support on
freight initiatives in West London following on from previous work
successfully carried out in 2008. This work is part of MVA's wider
role in supporting WestTrans in developing and implementing sub-regional
(cross-borough) schemes in West London.
The focus of MVA’s work will be improving engagement with local businesses through local freight forums, promoting TfL’s Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), delivering freight improvement schemes and in monitoring their effectiveness. This includes improved signage and freight operation on industrial estates, reducing PCN hotspots and the rolling out of Delivery and Servicing Plans (DSP) in town centres including environment and road safety improvements in West London.
The scope of works will also explore the development and use of the home delivery centre pilot project and promoting Construction Logistics Plans (CLP) in West London with the support of TfL Freight Unit.
Kevin Ratnasingam, project manager, said: “Addressing the impacts and improving the efficiency of freight operations in West London through partnership working is essential to sustaining the prosperous economy in West London. Feedback from the industry through local freight forums has been very encouraging.”
