A travel planning expert from MVA Consultancy has revealed the seven secrets of Smarter Travel on The Civil Engineers’ Channel.

Director of Smarter Travel Conrad Haigh this week began filming a short documentary on travel planning, giving expert advice on guidelines for the implementation of plans.
Conrad shared tips on how to get people out of their cars through travel planning and the kind of results organisations can expect to achieve by putting a properly targeted plan into place.

The Civil Engineers' Channel is a video-based learning service available from NBS that identifies and investigates current professional challenges, continuing professional development and learning by focusing on key industry events, projects and issues.

Conrad heads up the Smarter Travel Directorate at MVA and was last year recognised for his expertise and track record in the field, scooping the Travel Planner of the Year award 2008 by ACT TravelWise.

He said: “Transport is the fastest growing source of greenhouse gas emissions and commuter and business travel, constituting nearly 40 per cent of travel by car.
“But a well-designed travel plan can eliminate a significant amount of commuter car use for any organisation – bringing down costs and emissions in line with targets as well as promoting a more sustainable workplace.”

MVA’s award-winning Smarter Travel Directorate has an enviable record of success in this field of work, helping businesses and schools create and implement travel plans. Having also worked on sustainable transport schemes in Falkirk, London and across the UK, MVA’s skills sets include workplace, destination based, station, schools, residential and Personal Travel Planning (PTP) aimed at reducing single occupancy car journeys.
