MVA Consultancy has been appointed to advise on policy responses and major transport schemes as part of a three-year framework for Natural England.
The specialist transport planning consultancy is part of a panel of three consultants.
The MVA led team includes Environ, Thomson Ecology and Cooper Partnership who will join forces to provide transport and environmental support to Natural England at both the national and regional level.
The varied range of work to be carried out under the framework includes assisting Natural England in developing positions on transport policy and preparing responses on their behalf to transport consultations, guidance and papers which will directly impact the natural environment.
Research will also be commissioned on targeted transport issues, drafting responses to consultations on road proposals and major transport initiatives, preparing responses to consultations on Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) of transport plans, programmes and strategies and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for individual schemes, and helping to support and facilitate the general work of Natural England on transport related matters.
Environmental consutancy Environ brings a wealth of experience and has worked in partnership with MVA on a number of projects over the last five years. Thomson Ecology is one of the leading ecological consultancies in the UK with experts in all the major fields of biodiversity and habitat management. Cooper Partnership is a leading landscape architecture practice specialising in impact assessment and sustainable landscape planning.
Peter George, Director of Environmental Planning at MVA Consultancy, said: “Through the National Transport Framework, Natural England is seeking to foster a strong working partnership with transport and environmental experts which will allow them to be proactive in the decision-making process both in response to consultation on national policy and advising on the impacts of major schemes on the natural environment.
“We are delighted to have been awarded this framework and to have the opportunity to support Natural England to promote sustainable transport policies and ensure delivery of environmentally sound transport schemes.”
