MVA Consultancy has been appointed to provide specialist advice to the London Borough of Brent to identify and develop solutions mitigating the transport infrastructure challenges likely to result from the Alperton masterplan.

The masterplan for Alperton in the London Borough of Brent, proposes a development package which contains at least 1600 new homes along with new retail, business, community and leisure uses – increasing pressure on the local transport infrastructure.

As a multi-disciplinary transport planning expert with a proven record of success in masterplanning and contemporary traffic management, MVA will use its bespoke transport assessment model to estimate future trips by all modes for the various types of development throughout the masterplan area. The model outputs will underpin the work to assess the impact on the local road network.

MVA will also evaluate how the need and desire to travel by car can be reduced through a thorough review of local accessibility. More direct and higher quality walking and cycling routes, better bus service provision and travel demand management measures are likely to play a key role in affecting a modal shift away from car use.

Glenn Higgs, MVA Consultancy’s project manager, said: “This is an exciting project to be involved in as the masterplan incorporates some significantly forward thinking solutions which will help to define and deliver the much needed regeneration of this run-down part of London.”
