Winner backs travel planning award

MVA Consultancy is backing this year’s ACT Travelwise Awards after scooping the top prize at last year’s event.

The leading transport planning consultancy is supporting the Travel Planner of the Year award at the ceremony on 24 November. Last year MVA’s own Smarter Travel Director Conrad Haigh, took home the title. MVA now look forward to supporting the development of excellence in smarter travel by sponsoring the award. Conrad, last year’s winner, will make the presentation at the ACTTW annual dinner and awards ceremony in Newcastle.

The ACT Travelwise National Autumn Conference and Awards Ceremony is this year centred around A Healthy Approach to Travel Options: helping organisations and individuals to thrive, and will be held at The Sage, and the Assembly Rooms, Newcastle.

Conrad – who joined MVA Consultancy in 2008 from Transport for London (TfL) where he was Workplace Travel Planning Manager – insists Smarter Travel is playing an increasingly important role in shaping the future of transport planning in the UK and that the conference and awards ceremony provide a key opportunity in the development of excellence and dissemination of good practise.

He said: “Gathering with delegates at a major conference and awards ceremony is an effective way to explore the issues that need to be addressed across the industry including the future of travel planning and the associated economic and health benefits.

 “Smarter Travel solutions provide an effective, practical and efficient solution to today’s transport issues. By using the national stage provided by ACT TravelWise we can increase the effective use of these techniques in reducing congestion, damage to the environment, business costs and expenses and most importantly we can assist people in improving the their health and well being.”
