Top social sciences honour for MVA Director

John WicksA top social research expert at MVA Consultancy has been honoured by the Academy of Social Sciences (ACSS).

John Wicks – Director of Social and Market Research at transport specialist MVA – was officially welcomed as an Academician at the Academy’s AGM ceremony in London on 1 July by Professor Sir Howard Newby AcSS, Vice Chancellor of the University of Liverpool. 

Chartered Psychologist John has an extensive record of achievement spanning 35 years in the field of social and market research, working across the spectrum including transport, criminal justice and policing, environment, utilities, tourism, education, and public consultation.

Also a Chartered Marketer, John has been recognised as an Academician for his outstanding contribution to social sciences including active participation in several industry bodies.
John said: “I am honoured and delighted to receive this award from the Academy.  Social research has been my passion as well as my profession for all my working life and I look forward to participating in the many important activities of the Academy.”

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the ACSS aims to act as a voice for social sciences in the UK, promoting excellence as well as celebrating the outstanding contributions of individual social scientists.

The Academy is made up of distinguished scholars and practitioners from academia and the public and private sectors, with representatives from most of the learned societies in UK social sciences within the academy.

Frequently responding to government and other organisations on behalf of the social science community, the Academy holds seminars on diverse topics as well as sponsoring a number of schemes promoting social science.
