MVA re-appointed to London Travel Demand Survey project

MVA Consultancy has been re-appointed to update specialist software for TNS Research International in connection with the London Travel Demand Survey (LTDS).
The leading transport planning consultancy will carry out modifications to TNS RI’s TARA geocoding software which allows for the provision of detailed gazetteer and map data to LTDS.
The LTDS is a continuous, in-home survey with London residents, designed to collect details on travel patterns, car ownership, ticket usage and demographic information. The survey is conducted by TNS RI on behalf of Transport for London.
The data from the survey is routinely used to produce transport statistics including significant contributions to TfL's annual Travel In London report.
It is used to inform transport planning and policy, develop regional and sub-regional transport models, land development and transit scheme appraisal and to monitor and analyse travel patterns and trends.
MVA Consultancy's Information Systems team has developed extensive experience in writing survey cleansing software. The team developed software in 2002 which was used to clean, geocode, and post-process all of the LATS 2001 survey data.
The team has also produced software which has been applied on many large-scale travel surveys across the UK including Natural England's Day Visits Survey and DfT's National Rail Travel Survey.
