Hampshire County Council has appointed a team headed by MVA Consultancy to develop, maintain and manage an Evidence Base for the South Hampshire sub-region.
The commission includes the development of WebTAG compliant analysis and forecasting tools. The sub-regional transport model suite will provide an on-going shared resource for partners to define current and future challenges and to develop funded and practical solutions and transport interventions, in order to achieve local, sub-regional, regional and national objectives.
The Evidence Base will be a key tool as the sub-region seeks out funding opportunities (for example through the Urban Challenge Fund) for new transport interventions that will mitigate current and future challenges. Furthermore, the Evidence Base will assist in the development of Local Development Documents and will also help understand the impacts of housing and economic growth aspirations and of potential of solutions. MVA Consultancy will apply the model suite to undertake stage 2 of the DaSTS process in order to submit a preferred strategy with its interventions for inclusion in the regional transport plan for 2014 onwards, to be developed by South East England Partnership Board (SEEPB) in 2011.
Transport for South Hampshire (TfSH) Project Director Keith Willcox said, “We are delighted to have MVA on board for the development of the TfSH Evidence Base. MVA has proven pedigree in this area having been successfully involved in significant major scheme bids and developing WebTAG compliant transport models.
This is a vital project for the sub-region and will provide us with a robust approach to develop our strategy, appraise interventions, support sub-regional aspirations, and provide TfSH with the ability to grasp opportunities to deliver change in the sub-region.”
