MVA Consultancy has been commissioned by Transport for London (TfL) to identity transport options for a major London development site which has been identified as a key area for growth within the London Plan.
The transport planning specialist has been selected to undertake a detailed multi-modal transport study to inform and support the Revised White City Opportunity Area Planning Framework (WCOAPF) prepared for public consultation in summer 2010. The work will cover areas across the White City Estate, Shepherd Bush Town Centre, Loftus Road Stadium, the Territorial Army Centre and Hammersmith Park.
The project aims to build an understanding of existing and future transport conditions through baselining and modelling work, identifying the transport capacity and initiatives required to support the revised different levels of development quantum and proposing an appraisal framework of which to evaluate the recommended solutions.
Led by project director Dave Carter, MVA’s expert team will also outline funding requirements and a timeline for the transport enhancements and initiatives implementation as well as creating a plan and consultation strategy with the key stakeholders both internally and externally.
Simon Adams, project manager at MVA Consultancy, said: “The study will use a suite of TfL strategic and regional models including the London Transportation Studies (LTS) – a sub-regional version of Railplan which models public transport; and the Central London Highway Assignment model (CLoHAM).
“We will also be carrying out a comprehensive micro-simulation modelling exercise using a dynamic VISSIM model.”
