Exploration of Greater Use of Non-Pay Benefits

This study on behalf of the Scottish Executive provided
insight into staff perceptions and satisfaction with current rewards
and explored attitudes towards possible future awards. We conducted
focus groups with staff of the Scottish Executive core departments
and Scottish Executive agencies. The Modernising Government White
Paper recognised the need to reward staff for the contribution they
make. A key action was to make use of non-pay benefits such as better
training and career prospects, opportunities for career breaks, improved
working conditions, family-friendly working practices and recognition
in the form of awards.
