Fastway

We helped West Sussex County Council and its partners to obtain the public funding needed to build 'Fastway', a high quality bus priority and guided bus scheme. Phase 1 opened in September 2003, with all routes expected to be fully operational by 2006. One of the key benefits is the reduction of car dependency among Gatwick Airport employees. With services operating at 5-20 minute intervals seven days a week for up to 20 hours per day, Fastway is attractive not just to local residents and air passengers, but also to the thousands of airport employees living in the local area.

Our involvement with 'Fastway' began with the feasibility study in association with Kennedy and Donkin. Our subsequent Appraisal Report provided enhanced economic analysis to confirm the scheme's robustness and financial viability. We also evaluated the environmental, safety, integration and accessibility elements of the appraisal. As well helping attract £10m of public sector funding towards the £35 million scheme, we confirmed the business case to secure private investment from operators and other investors.
