We looked into the transport sustainability of 62 villages in the Borough using a wide range of analytical and graphical techniques, including ACCMAP. Sustainability indices were developed taking into account: population and socio-economic mix; facilities available in the villages; accessibility by public transport and car to hospitals, schools, leisure facilities and major employers. The study looked into the costs of providing public transport using conventional stage carriage and other forms of community transport. The study included distribution of a questionnaire survey of residents as part of the consultation process.
