We were appointed by Milton Keynes Council to develop
a multi-modal model for the area. Our work was also designed to
support development of a transport strategy for the area over the
next 20-30 years. We enhanced and upgraded the current transport
modelling capabilities to encompass full public transport and demand
modelling. The existing traffic assignment model was developed into
a multi-modal model, used to appraise major transport schemes and
determine the most appropriate long-term public transport solultion
for Milton Keynes. The project included collection of new interview
survey data for both existing public and private transport users.
This, together with existing household surveys and RSI data was used
in the development of demand matrices and to calibrate a demand model
of a similar structure to previous studies such as CSTM.
