Bus lane enforcement for Oxfordshire

<< Go Back

Oxfordshire County Council commissioned us to devise a bus lane enforcement system for Oxford City centre. The aim was to help the Council restrict general through traffic and increase bus patronage, using the powers contained in the Transport Act 2000, which extends bus lane enforcement to sites outside London. The team developed a system enabling enforcement of bus lanes and other bus priority measures, examined the scope of infrastructure works required, evaluated and recommended appropriate camera technology and provided advice on traffic orders and signs. We also advised on longer term proposals for enforcement. Our work included preparation of an outline design for the initial site, including selection of camera equipment type, mounting location and other streetworks, such as signing and initial advice on the processing of penalty notices.
