for the North East of England

Regional Planning Assessments are intended to set the
framework for the development of the regional rail networks over
a 20 year period. Each Assessment covers a Government Office Region
- in this case for the North East. The study was a mixture of analysis
and consultation, requiring extensive data collation to provide a
baseline position and forecasts of future demand. Consultation included
one to one and forum formats to both verify assumptions and explain
constraints. The output included core and enhanced scenarios for
the rail network, covering both services and infrastructure for the
period to 2025.
