We worked with KPMG to carry out the 2006 Economic
Impact Assessment of the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre
(SECC) in Glasgow. We were responsible for collecting expenditure
data from visitors, organisers and exhibitors at a range of conferences,
concerts, exhibitions and confexs, both national and international,
to feed into the economic model developed by KPMG. Over 1600 interviews
were carried out, using face-to-face, self-completion and telephone
interview approaches. The work sought to assess the impact of the
SECC on the local and Scottish economies, calculating total business
and personal expenditure generated by events, and estimating the
number of full-time equivalent jobs sustained by the activities at
the SECC.
