We monitored responsible behaviour amongst recreational
users and land managers of Scotland's outdoors.
Scottish Natural Heritage commissioned us to conduct
a three year study to monitor changes in behaviour of recreational
users, owners/managers
of land and outdoor recreation managers services arising from the
introduction of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. A third party
approach was adopted to contact respondents from each target group.
Each year
the results were statistically compared with the baseline study
conducted in 2002/03. We also reviewed the methodology of the baseline
study
and refined the questionnaires for each target group. Each year
a self-completion postal return survey was adminstered to each of
the
target groups. The data from the recreational users and land owners/managers
was processed prior to administering the outdoor recreation managers
survey. This enabled incorportation of the findings from these
two surveys into the questionnaire for the outdoor recreation managers
for comparison purposes. We reported the findings each year and
also presented key study findings at a one day seminar at the end
of the three year monitor.
