Development of a public transport model to support the Stockport Town Centre Masterplan

We developed a public transport model to support the Stockport Town Centre Masterplan. The model formed part of a modelling system including a SATURN highway assignment model and the GMSPM strategic demand model. Base year demand matrices were developed from origin/destination surveys and existing matrices. A base year network was developed which was highly detailed in Stockport town centre allowing for investigation of options for bus waiting facilitiy location, links between bus and rail stations and Metrolink routing. Future year do-minimum and test networks were developed and demonstration assignments undertaken using base year demand.
