Operational Review for Selective Vehicle Detection

A number of performance issues are known to exist with
existing Selective Vehicle Detection (SVD) bus priority systems but
there are no tools for automatically monitoring their performance
(in terms of reduced bus delays). In addition, there is inadequate
provision for monitoring and identifying faults that may affect system
performance. Through undertaking several surveys, we developed a
better fact base for the performance of existing SVD systems and
through intensive analysis reported on the weaknesses in the existing
systems, and the impact of these on bus delay savings. The work enabled
TfL to prioritise improvements in areas such as monitoring capability,
fault handling and operational processes for SVD.
