We led a European Commission funded project to
examine the use of digital video cameras for
enforcing traffic regulations throughout Europe.
Video Enforcement for Road Authorities (VERA)
examined harmonised approaches to the
enforcement of traffic laws and promoted
acceptance of video records as evidence in court.
The project was designed to demonstrate the use of
video enforcement techniques for detecting traffic
violations in urban areas (eg bus lane
infringements), in inter-urban areas (eg speeding)
and for pricing applications (eg non payment of
tolls).
