Park Royal Partnership has appointed MVA to develop
traffic management proposals for the Park Royal area, the largest
industrial estate in London. The study will address problems related
to increasing traffic congestion, on-street parking and general accessibility
across all modes of transport.
The Park Royal area is currently undergoing a process of regeneration,
following several decades in decline. The estate is home to the Central
Middlesex Hospital and around 1,600 commercial and industrial organisations,
which employ around 35,000 people in all. There are also small pockets
of residential development, much of which is social housing.
The study will examine existing and future traffic levels in the
Park Royal area. MVA will create an effective package of short and
long-term traffic management measures to facilitate continued regeneration,
improve conditions for road-based public transport, cyclists, pedestrians
and the mobility-impaired and avoid adverse effects for delivery
vehicles. MVA will test the strategic options using the existing
Park Royal SATURN traffic model, which will be audited and improved,
to assess their feasibility and effectiveness.
"The challenge of developing a transport strategy for the area
involves tackling the problems without introducing undue restraint
that would drive investment elsewhere and stifle regeneration," explains
Tim Cuthbert "The study will tackle congestion and delays on
the road network, provide for non-motorised traffic in the form of
safe and direct routes and address the deteriorating physical environment
through good urban design."
We continue to provide support to the West London
Freight Quality Partnership on freight initiatives at West London.
The works include the Park Royal directional signing improvements
on the A40 and A406 and further provision of improved loading and
unloading facilities at Ealing Town Centre.
