An important but often neglected part of transport
surveys is the processing and data management of the information
collected. We developed a suite of tools to automate much of the
data compilation and processing, which has the added benefit of improving
the quality and quantity of of the results available for analysis.
The Transport Address Resolving Application (TARA) processes survey
data through three stages: initial geocoding to locate the origin
and destinations; data clean-up of ambiguous location data with advanced
geocoding programs; and map based tools to resolve any outstanding
data. The TARA application is customised to each survey's requirements
to ensure that the data is processed efficiently with maximum results.
