Accessibility planning

<< Go Back

Good access to key services is becoming ever more important and the tools and techniques needed to measure accessibility are now essential components of transport planning.

Improving accessibility is a fundamental means of reducing social exclusion for all those people who do not have a car available for their journeys. Robust and reliable accessibility planning techniques are essential to improve access to employment opportunities, health and educational services and to shopping and leisure facilities.

As developers of ACCESSION, we are uniquely placed to help. ACCESSION is the new software we provided to the Department for Transport (DfT) for use in Accessibility Planning activities.

We can assist local transport authorities, transport partnerships, health trusts and education authorities to develop robust ACCESSION models to plan for access to key services. We can also provide the software as well as training in its use. Increasingly we find that developers and their planning consultants as well as estate managers need our assistance to plan public transport access to developments and to demonstrate that their plans meet accessibility criteria.
