Public consultation is an integral part of any major
policy study or scheme assessment.
We help public sector organisations gain more meaningful
results from consultation with local stakeholders.
Proper consultation can speed the planning process
on new schemes, enabling decision-makers to identify gaps in provision
and become
more responsive to community needs.
Our experience has shown that, if handled sensitively,
consultation can help reduce the impact of potentially unpopular
measures
and attract government funding for new schemes. Yet the great
diversity
of participation initiatives can be confusing. A range of approaches
is sometimes necessary in order to reach the heart of the issue.
Consultation that makes use of good social research
can greatly assist decision making. Over the years, we have worked
with
clients to consult
the public on a wide range of subjects, including new public
transport infrastructure, environmental issues, rural bus
services, parking
provision, education, housing, trading standards and leisure
services.
