Walking & cycling

<< Go Back

Successful urban transport strategies now place considerable emphasis on encouraging cycling and walking wherever possible. MVA has a strong commitment to both walking and cycling whether as part of Local Development Frameworks, scheme assessments or Company Transport Plans.

Our experience includes the design and assessment of cycle lanes, cycleway facilities and elevated footpaths, the evaluation of cycle friendly rapid transit provision and the reallocation of road space to give priority to modes other than car. We have worked with a number of hospitals and private sector organisations to develop Healthy Commuter Plans which contain incentives to walk and cycle and have introduced traffic management measures to encourage cycling.

Our capability includes:

  • design of cyclist routes and facilities;
  • management of high profile Government cycle initiatives;
  • auditing of local authority and other cycling schemes; and
  • evaluation of cycle surveys.
